The sixth annual fundraising event of the Southwest Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers, will once again hold a packed day of its ever-popular garage sale, fly tying demonstrations, casting lessons, and a silent auction on Saturday, January 31st, from 9am to 4pm, at the Long Beach Casting Club (4901 East 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90804).

Members of the fly-fishing clubs that comprise the Southwest Council together with local dealers have donated rods, reels, lines, clothing, and accessories to the event. All un-sold items will be donated to Project Healing Waters (http://www.projecthealingwaters.org/) or as needed by the Southwest Council member clubs. In addition, bidding on select and special items will be available through the silent auction all day.

Fly tying demonstrations will be held throughout the day from nationally acclaimed local fly tiers, including three winners of the IFFF’s Buz Buszek Fly Tying Award.Featured tiers will include Bill Blackstone, Al Q, John Rose, Glenn Hiroyasu, John Van Derhoof, Mark Kirchner, Maria Rivas, Steven Fernandez, Dave Boyer, Mel Light, Dean Endress, Lee Baermann, Carl Ronk, Naomi Okamoto, Steve Posner, Vaughn Podmore, Mike Forest, and Kevin Green.

Casting lessons from IFFF-Certified Casting Instructors will also be available all day. Lessons will be available for $1 per minute at a minimum of 15 minutes. Participants will be analyzed by instructors and receives tips on improving their single-hand or Spey casting. They will also have the chance to take part in the Danish Casting Games. In addition, the annual ‘Teach the Teachers’ casting instructor course will hold a class on-site at the event.

Admission to the event will be $10 for IFFF members and $15 for others (lunch included). IFFF membership will also be available at the door. Attendees who donate sellable items to the Garage Sale originally priced at more than $40 will gain free admission.
