The Seventh Annual Yak Fest

Pasadena Casting Club Clubhouse
Pardon my honesty, but when I sit down to write these program articles every month, usually the night before they’re due, I need divine intervention to find something clever to say. Said intervention is usually not forthcoming, and I rely on the contents of 12 ounce bottles with pregnancy warnings on them. And it shows, in both my writing and my svelte physique. When it comes to repeat programs, I’m really stuck. This is the seventh Yak Fest I’m trying to write something unique and clever about, and I’m all out of clever. The event started as a silly little farce, and has now grown into a silly, larger, institutionalized farce.
The event is built on the premise that club members like to get together and chat with other members without the inconvenient interruption of a fly fishing presentation. Club members like the opportunity to become acquainted with other members and forge new friendships. Club members like the summer evening atmosphere of the Arroyo. Club members like to eat. Club members like doing things for free.
So, PCC will provide all attendees a simple yet satisfying dinner, with the menu carefully planned by Seymour and catered by an elite company based in Kirkland. Appetizers, a main course, dessert, and drinks are included, all free. No RSVP is required.
You show up, you talk, you eat, you talk a little more. Maybe you cast a little bit, and then eat some more.
Bring your spouse, bring your children, and bring your friends, all are welcome, and no donation is expected.
Although the event starts officially at 7:30 p.m., we’ll be setting up the premises beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m., so show up whenever you want. Bring your fly rod, cast some beforehand, and make some new friends.
If you have any questions, please contact Seymour Singer at email@example.com or 323-445-5936. If you want to help, we can always use a hand before, during, or after the event with set-up and serving. Although it should be apparent by now, this event is definitely at the Clubhouse and Casting Pool in Lower Arroyo Seco Park. Directions for newcomers can be found here: Clubhouse Directions
